Surprise

I am always amazed at what is found at Farmington Bay. We saw this little guy trying to cross the road. It first we thought it was a rock in the road but then realized that it was a turtle.

Sand Hill Crane

It is always a surprise to see large birds in our neighborhood. We have seen a pair of Sand hill cranes in a field just north and west of Station Park in Farmington. Even with all the construction going on they seem content to just go about their business.

Wood duck

A couple of wood ducks were just passing through Farmington Bay on their way north a couple of days ago. They are the most beautiful bird. We seldom have any around here so this was a real treat.

Fight! Fight! Fight!

Even though Canada Geese are a friendly bunch, come spring they tend to become cranky, Each pair wants the best place to nest with no other geese near by.   We watched as one young male came in to the claimed territory looking for a fight but was soon beaten off.
p.s. finally got my computer fixed. Yea

wild turkey

I am so glad we have an eagle for a national bird. Wild turkeys are ugly. Love the picture.

Barn Owl

This barn owl was just sitting on a fence on a busy road. We got a few pictures but when we turned around he was gone. Owl are interesting birds. Their eyes do not move just their heads and their feathers are shaped in such a way that they do not make a sound when they fly.
