Western Grebe

Today I am a Western Grebe. They are so graceful. In the spring they do a wonderful love dance moving their heads and long necks around each other.

Until I was about eleven I wanted to be a ballerina. I even talked my mother into letting me take ballet lessons. I only lasted a few months. I found out that my feet would not listen to my head. and no matter how much I practiced I could not make those wonderful turns and spins. I fell into the furniture and knocked over lamps.

Somewhere deep in side I am a ballerina, I am wearing a tutu, my legs do wonderful high kicks and I spin like a top. That is why today I am a Western Grebe, gliding on the water and doing a love dance.
