man vs. stump

After cutting down the tree, we were left with a stubborn stump. First Kent and Merril dug around the roots and cut what they thought were the biggest. Next the truck, then a bigger truck, finally the biggest truck. But no luck.

More digging, cutting, digging. Finally another good neighbor came again. This time success.

The stump was larger than any one thought. After the roots near the surface were cut the stump went down another five feet!

Glad we chose to not take out it's twin. After seeing the trouble of the first tree, we just trimmed the second. Now what to do with the giant hole in the front yard.
