American Gold Finch

Those bright yellow birds flying around are the American Gold Finch. They are in their brightest colors to attract the female. The female is a brown and gray striped bird that is hard to tell from other female brown and gray striped birds. They know which male is the brightest yellow and has the black head which is all that is required for a happy mating season.
