Black Pheasant

Just before going across the causeway to Antelope Island we saw two birds fighting. They were male pheasants. When we got closer one flew away. We realized that the winner was this black pheasant. It is a melanistic mutant pheasant. It is not native to this area but originally raised by someone and then escaped. He was a great looking bird except for the lack of feathers on the breast from fighting.
